The fact that Tin Machine is not David Bowie is something that was lost to a lot of critics and David Bowie fans. Tin Machine was a group of 4 guys (5 live). All credit, pay and expenses were divided equally among the band members and Bowie constantly reminded the media that he was only a member. I had the pleasure of seeing them in a small venue in the early 90's and I was blow away. I saw them as a great group, not a backup band for Bowie and that's what made the experience so great. When people ask if I've ever seen Bowie, I say no, but I saw Davie Bowie in a band. Tin Machine was a a band well ahead of its time.
