I bought this as an anniversary gift for my husband. (Planning to fill the gumball capsules with slips of paper with compliments, memories, and cheesy pickup lines.) I was having a hard time getting a sense of the product from the reviews. It came fully assembled with a set of keys, but no instructions. Several reviews mention "$1 coins," which are a thing in the US, but not very common. I thought surely that must be from reviews from other countries and assumed the machine would work with quarters. It does not, which is my mistake, but it also doesn't make the product very useful. Luckily, I wanted to be able to convert the machine to "free spin," and found a YouTube tutorial that worked well. After a bit of "Gumball Machine Open Heart Surgery" I was able to remove the internal mechanism that detects a coin, and turn it into a coinless spin mechanism fairly easily. The quality of the product is very nice for the price. It's made mostly made of a very solid plastic with a few metal components. It seems sturdy and like it would hold up well. It's a touch bigger than I was anticipating, but again-- that's on me for not measuring properly. My biggest takeaway is that if you plan to use this with actual coins and you're in the US, you need access to actual $1 coins, which isn't very practical.
